The SM27 Cardioid Condenser Microphone from Shure is a large diaphragm microphone for capturing vocals and instruments in project studio recording applications. Among the SM27's features is a cardioid polar pattern, -15 dB pad switch and 3-position low-cut filter switch.
The cardioid capsule effectively minimizes off-axis noise while reducing feedback and a -15 dB pad maximizes headroom, reducing peak noise and distortion caused by transient (peaking) audio signals. The SM27's 3-position low-cut filter switch minimizes low-frequency noise and proximity effect. Overall the SM27 is a modestly priced microphone that is sure to please musicians, vocalists, and experienced audio engineers alike.
The uniform cardioid polar pattern of the SM27 helps reduce the capture of stage bleed and background noise, allowing you to achieve more gain and stronger direct sound. The built-in pop protection utilizes three separate layers to minimize noise from vocal plosives, breaths, and even light wind. In addition to the internal shock-mounting, the mic comes with a rubber-isolated shockmount to further decouple the mic from sources of vibration. Being a solid-state XLR condenser mic, the SM27 requires 48V phantom power.
The SM27 is a rugged and versatile large-diaphragm, side-address cardioid condenser microphone. It has low self-noise and extended frequency response that picks up vocal and instrument nuances with clarity. With durable metal construction, integral pop protection consisting of three layers that reduce wind and breath noise, and integrated shock-mounting to reduce handling and stand noise, it is competent both in the studio and on stage.
The true condenser capsule features a 1" low-mass Mylar diaphragm for excellent transient response and flat, neutral sonics. The uniform cardioid polar pattern provides superior off-axis rejection to reduce the pickup of stage bleed and background noise.
Equipped with a Class-A, discrete, transformerless preamplifier, the SM27 offers transparency, extremely fast transient response, and no crossover distortion while minimizing harmonic and intermodulation distortions.
Tracking drums or cranked-up guitar cabs? Switch on the -15 dB pad for distortion-free performance consistency across a wider range of high SPL sources. The low-cut filter can be set to 80 or 115 Hz to help reduce unwanted background noise or counteract proximity effect for consistent, extended bass.
